The reception went well last night. A worked all the way up to the end to make sure all was complete, and the several students really were of great help in the final hours. The crowd was large and enthused, and the piece looks really nice. Dinner was really pleasant and the post celebration at WG's was necessary. It was nice to get one more gig in before departing.
Classes are over, now it's assessment, photodoc, and god knows what else through next week. I need to finish my paintings for the fall before I leave, and I'm in pretty good shape to do that. Let's cross our fingers.
Angela bought some tour books so we can plot our lowcounty/rhine/swiss journey to Lacoste. I've definitely reserved a car in Strasbourg so we'll be driving during the second week. It gives us more flexibility.
We're going to miss A and J. They leave on the 7th. Hopefully we can get him to come in again sometime. They were both super nice and it was a great experience working with him. The band appreciates dedicated fans. Speaking of, we have a few European gigs booked already, one in Leyden and one in Antwerp for sure, more will follow.
The kids are antsy for summer. Angela has reserved a dog. All is normal.

friday
The rain is fairly persistent. It's making it difficult to move work back and forth to the studio. The profile portrait is coming along, but Pulaski can not be moved until the weather clears. It just adds to the struggle, like a penance. In a way it's appropriate.
G did three straight swim practices, he's on a roll. Doesn't have to go back until Monday. Should be a full weekend. Today will be..challenging. The list would be uninteresting, and take too much time. None of it particularly useful artistically. There'll be time to paint Saturday and Sunday.
six days until we reveal the structure publicly.
My sil, A, is looking for the blog. Perhaps she'll find it.

No posts for a while...swamped is a word that comes to mind.
Drastic changes in the department, a trip to Atlanta for school business, time slipping away as deadlines fast approach. So what else is new.
Had to postpone the trip to Brooklyn until the band returns from Europe. Kind of a drag. Priority continues to be the collaborative project. End of quarter, pre August-opening celebration this coming Wednesday. It looks like it's going to get done, and it will. My goal is to make sure A is happy with it. He's put plenty into it and deserves for it to succeed. My paintings for it are coming along, but it's hard to get that consistent studio time, even with the new plan.
The trio definitely played one of our best shows Saturday. No mics, the crowd was attentive, and the sound was great. JS showed up after flying from Atlanta to Richmond to Savannah in a 24 hour period. Very impressive. We have two more gigs on Saturday night before we go on a WG hiatus. If he shows up for the last two shows he gains regular status. More than most.
Plenty to do before departure. Have to order panels, tyvek, and get my supplies in order. Spoke to rider today, looks good for rc this summer. Many destinations.
Just need to finish off the work for the show at Union College in Sept before I leave.
Looks like we'll be renting a car in Strausberg. We'll need it for the week anyway.
G is on the swim team, and we are so proud of him, it looks like the patience is paying off. P was in the fashion show, I missed it because i was late coming back from Atlanta, but I saw her in her outfit, and can watch it online. A had a shopping spree for her birthday, had a girls night out, and reserved a rescue greyhound for the summer. New dog while i'm away. Should be fun.

Hosted two dinners, A and M and A's parents Sunday, AC, J, and CD last night. Loin, pullao and chutney for both. Lentils with onion and garlic, and homemade brownies Sunday, black eyed peas and mushrooms, spicy green beans w/ ginger and cilantro, and Harris St. desserts last night. All good. G and p were waiters, it gave me ideas for the future. It was a late night last night, made for a change in plans for this morning. I had been implementing the new plan, painting at 7 each morning, but had to adjust today. Not a problem, back on it tomorrow. The quad portrait is coming along.
Helping to host our last visiting speaker of the quarter tomorrow, and all the panels need to be up with paint on them by Friday, so still a little to do this week. It's essential that everyone shows up with their part. Need to keep working to finish up the pieces for the show at Union College in Sept. It should all come together just in time. Starting some new things next week, hopefully.
Reviewing P1 this week, that'll be two down with two to go to finish off the MALR needs. Hoping there are no surprises between now and June 11, only 36 days until departure and I need to stay focused. Senior gift, assessment, and Advisory Board are the immediate priorities other then classes and the studio.

Friday night was a good night. The work looked great, TW did a really nice job hanging the pieces. I liked the floor lamp. May have to use that sometime. Interesting feedback, definitely need to keep pushing things. There was a really nice spread, P and P went all out. Desserts and beer, mmmm. It was nice playing outside, good crowd, could really hear everything. Children continue to be our most enthusiastic demographic. Get them early I say.
A's parents are in town they came to the show on Friday, and to WG's last night. Decent crowd. Some really loud people in the bar. We're fine with conversation but they were shouting..constantly. Didn't even notice when A was leaning into the mike until there was feedback. I had my amp up, and our loyal fans were singing along all around them, MP and AF were stomping, and they still didn't notice. Whatever. We all enjoyed it anyway.
Making dinner for A, M and his parents tonight. AC and J are coming over for dinner Tuesday. We want to get everyone in before we leave in June.
Painted again yesterday, creating a new plan for myself. Should work. I just need to make sure I have it all done before departure. Spoke to MB in NY yesterday, planning a possible quick tour up there first week of June. Why not, it's not like there's anything else going on. Hoping to ride today.
